Problem-Solving: An Underperforming Competition Campaign

For the 50th edition of The Business Show, we introduced the £100k Launchpad Package – a grand prize designed to propel an entrepreneur’s dream venture. Despite the competition’s exceptional value, we were struggling to attract enough entries to provide a robust selection for the judges.

Recognising that the issue was not the competition itself but a lack of awareness, our goal was to increase entries from 63 to 100 as swiftly as possible. I spearheaded this initiative, implementing targeted promotional strategies to enhance engagement and drive submissions, resulting in a very successful growth in a short period of time.

Introduced dynamic multimedia content through creating a TikTok/Reel style short video with subtitles to capture a broader audience and enhance engagement. We also announced an exciting upgrade: the £50k Launchpad prize was increased to a substantial £100k, amplifying interest and attracting more viewers.

Announcing the judges through a series of posts, starting with a group lineup, provided a cohesive introduction to their collective expertise. This approach not built anticipation and highlighted the diverse and prestigious backgrounds of the judges, adding significant value by underscoring the caliber of evaluation that participants would receive.

This post featured Simon Squibb prominently at the centre, and brought towards the front of the group, accentuating his high profile. This strategic positioning not only drew attention and generated buzz but also enhanced the perceived value of the judging panel by associating the competition with a widely respected and influential figure.

Secondly, I created individual judge graphics, where I highlighted each judge’s entrepreneurial background in detail. By providing this context, I emphasised the significance of having your business idea evaluated by these industry experts, showcasing just how special the opportunity truly is.

Result

A significant growth compared to previously, with almost a submission every day.

To reach 93 submissions between the 12/08/2024−17/07/2024 (26 days) demonstrates a 47.62% increase in just over 3 weeks, presenting a solid growth rate.
